Windows 8 was one of the most critically acclaimed Operating System that gained huge popularity on its release. The major changes included the new Metro UI Start screen, Windows Store, more personalization and increased speed.

As a release offer, Microsoft had priced the OS very economically – Rs.1999($40) for the official download. This offer was only valid till January 31st, 2013.

During this period, over 60 million Windows 8 licensed copies were sold, and millions more were illegally cracked.

However, the price has increased now. Those who were not fortunate enough to buy during the offer period have to pay nearly three times the price now.
